DAP’s Sungai Pinang assemblyman Teng Chang Khim was sworn in as the Selangor State Assembly Speaker on Tuesday.
In taking his oath, Teng vowed to give his loyalty to the state and its sovereign as well as do his best in his capacity as the Speaker.
Also sworn in was PKR’s Taman Medan assemblyman Haniza Talha as the deputy Speaker.
Fifty-five of the fifty-six state assemblymen were also sworn in at the ceremony, which lasted for about two-and-a-half-hours.
Missing from the ceremony was Kota Alam Shah assemblyman M. Manoharan who was currently being detained under the ISA at the Kamunting detention centre in Taiping.
Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah was also not present at the swearing-in ceremony.
Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim urged the elected reps to perform to the best of their ability and put the interest of their electorate and the state as top priority.
