Tee Keat: Pakatan must prove itself - NST

KUALA LUMPUR: May 11, 2008 By Minderjeet Kaur

Pakatan Rakyat is slow in fulfilling its promises and is making a mockery of itself, said MCA vice-president Datuk Ong Tee Keat.

"I am monitoring them. I have not been harsh on anyone. But it is time for Pakatan Rakyat to prove itself," he said after giving a hearse to Kampung Cheras Baru folks here yesterday.

The hearse is part of his promise made to his voters during the campaigning.

He also reminded Pakatan Rakyat to keep its promises as the rakyat were unhappy.

"More and more people are coming to me. Previously, it was only from my area in Pandan but now I have people from other constituencies asking for help."

Ong said some of the promises made included providing clean water, reducing assessments, reducing traffic congestion at housing areas and solving the strata title issue in Selangor.

He said Pakatan Rakyat was criticising and pointing fingers at BN instead of fulfilling its promises.

"It's now been two months since Pakatan Rakyat took over Selangor.

"They should give the rakyat an action plan," said Ong.

He said Pakatan Rakyat members of parliament who were also state representatives failed to solve the problems brought to their attention.

"They are acting like they are the opposition. They have forgotten they are in power at the state level."

He said previously the rakyat criticised BN for not doing their job.

"Now Pakatan Rakyat should deal with the criticism, too."
